The first in a series of short stories I have planned about the Normandy's crew going about their business as they contribute to a very unique project aimed at helping out the galaxy post-war. The briefing was quickly approaching, but she had a few minutes to check over her appearance beforehand. The alliance initiative that she had become the spokeswoman of was a truly tough sell, and she had to make sure her pitch was perfect, and that started with her looks. She carefully studied her reflection. Bright green eyes stared back at her amongst a smattering of freckles. Her auburn hair had been styled into her trademark, shoulder length bob. Commander Shepard and Tali had decided to settle onto Rannoch a few years after dealing with the Reaper and geth crisis. The two of them were very much in love, in spite of their different species and in spite of their shared female gender. Of course, such romantic affiliations were not seen as unusual by the quarians, and they accepted Tali's choice in a mate wholeheartedly. Shepard had become quite the famous figure throughout the entire galaxy for her heroism, but she did not wish to bask in the limelight, as it seemed like it would be more trouble than it should have been. Shepard groaned, her head resting in her hands. It’d been nearly a year since she’d activated the Catalyst to destroy The Reapers for good, miraculously surviving the explosion and was later found drifting in space. But after the initial excitement and celebrations her life had become almost dull.
Sure there was the odd pirate or warlord trying to fill the power vacuum left after the devastation the Reaper’s attempt at universal genocide, but none of them could stand up to Shepard, her crew and the Normandy.
